Incoming International Students
1. Complete the University Aid Application by April 1
Download and complete the following items:
Submit these forms directly to our office:

2. Northwestern will determine your financial aid eligibility and aid package
The basic equation for need based financial aid is as follows:
Cost of Attendance (COA) - Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = Demonstrated Institutional Need
All applications will be reviewed in the order they were received.
3. Accept or decline your award package
Our office will begin sending financial award decision e-mails on a rolling basis beginning June 1, 2009.

4. Re-apply for the NU Loan – GPAL (if applicable)
International students who have applied for financial aid and have been offered an NU Loan - GPAL loan on their 2009-10 financial aid award notice must complete the NU Loan - GPAL application online each academic year in order to receive funds for this loan.
